Congratulations to Michelle Hare for graduating with the Master of Science in Holistic Nutrition degree with the Summa cum Laude designation. Michelle also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Ball State University in Indiana. For most of her career, she observed the allopathic medical model overlooking patients’ comprehensive wellness needs. Along with her lifelong passion and belief that nutrition plays a vital role in healing, Michelle entered Hawthorn to learn more. She is a healthcare administrator for the St. Joseph’s Heart Institute in Tampa, Florida. She began her healthcare career working through college in Dietary Services calculating diabetic exchange diets for patients with renal disease and continued to work with patients with diabetes and renal disease until she broadened her experience by working in critical care units. She went on to specialize in cardiovascular medicine She is also adept at program development and implementation. Her goal is to help individuals take an active role in achieving their wellness objectives by addressing active health conditions but also through the prevention of disease; doing this by incorporating nutritional principles as well the emotional and spiritual aspects. She believes that healing and wholeness are matters of body, mind, and spirit. Her thesis is entitled Nutritional Intervention can Reduce Hospital Readmission in Elderly Patients Hospitalized with Congestive Heart Failure. Keep up the good work, Michelle!
