| Hawthorn University offers both mentored and independent study online degree
and certificate programs in holistic nutrition. Independent study programs
include the new interdisciplinary Ed.D in Holistic
Nutrition Education program and a master’s program in
Health and Nutrition Education (MHNE). Independent study programs are
ideal for motivated individuals who want focused educational training at a
faster pace. Individuals in these programs have a specific interest in
nutrition education or want dedicated training in nutrition education in a
condensed time frame. Many students are adults supporting families or starting
second careers. These independent study programs offer flexibility and quality
training for the disciplined, mature student. |

Our mentored programs; the Master of Science in Holistic
Nutrition (MSHN) and the Nutrition Consultant (NC)
programs are designed for students who want to work clinically, designing
individualized nutrition plans and working as nutrition consultants. Students
work with mentors via the telephone and one-to-one instructional conferences
are included with each module. Students work with practice clients and mentors
guide and instruct students as they proceed through these programs.

In order to be considered for enrollment students must submit a completed application, including all application documents. A non-refundable application fee of $50 will be charged. |

| The fall term will begin on October 6, 2008. All students will complete an orientation which takes place via webinar and teleconference at 2:00 pm (PDT) on October 6. After completion of the orientation, students will proceed with their studies at their own pace. |

The underlying philosophy at Hawthorn University supports the concept of
biochemical individuality in our health needs and the learning process. At
Hawthorn we support students in deepening their learning explorations of
holistic nutrition. Programs are a combination of experiential and intellectual
approaches and are comprised of modules which include oral lectures, textbook
and research assignments, practical activities, and online and teleclass
(conference call) discussions.
