The Healing Foods Educational Programs are three programs geared to serve the seriously ill, caregivers and family members of those that are ill, and the local Sonoma, CA County community at large. The program is more than nutrition education. It explores the human relationship to food and health at the evolutionary level as well as the nutritional level. The Healing Foods program has successfully helped Ceres Community Project (www.ceresproject.org) clients choose a healthier plant based, whole food diet. JoEllen DeNicola APP, NE is a Holistic Nutrition Educator and organic gardener who believes that healing begins when we reconnect to the source of life and health. JoEllen co-authored the Ceres Project Cookbook, Nourishing Connections: The Healing Power of Food and Community. This book reflects her belief that there is a dynamic relationship between health, whole foods and lifestyle choices. As the Nutrition Director for the Ceres Community Project, she created and teaches the in depth Healing Foods Cooking Course for people dealing with serious illness and their caregivers. JoEllen has a BS from the University of Michigan's School of Natural Resources. She received a certification in Polarity Therapy in 2001, a Nutrition Education certification from Bauman College of Holistic Nutrition in 2007 and is a Certified Permaculture Designer.
